HEIC Converter

Your files never leave your browser

SocialShrink's HEIC converter transforms iPhone HEIC and HEIF photos into universal formats (JPG, PNG, or WebP) directly in your browser, with nothing uploaded. HEIC is the format iPhones have used by default since 2017 to save storage, but outside Apple compatibility is limited: Windows, many websites, and editing apps can't open it. This converter decodes the HEIC using WebAssembly and re-encodes it to your chosen format at the quality you set, all on your device.

How it works

  1. Drop your HEIC photos
Drag one or several .heic or .heif files. The actual format is detected by the file's bytes, not the extension (this avoids issues in Safari, which sometimes delivers them already as JPEG).
  2. Choose the output format
JPG is recommended for sharing (light, universal). WebP is more efficient if your destination supports it. PNG only if you need transparency or lossless — photos in PNG weigh 10-15 MB.
  3. Adjust quality
A slider that defaults to high quality (90%). Lower it for lighter files or raise it to maximum for the highest fidelity.
  4. Download the results
Download each photo individually or all in a ZIP. If you uploaded several, progress is shown file by file.

Your privacy

HEIC decoding uses a WebAssembly library (libheif) that runs entirely in your browser. Your iPhone photos are not uploaded to any server, don't pass through any cloud, and aren't stored anywhere. This is real local conversion: when you close the tab, nothing remains.
